United StatesI’m new to yoga and practiced 3x a week for about a month before I purchased my Scoria mat. I do hot yoga and the studio provided mats were made of PVC and had a horrible odor. I knew I wanted a mat made from natural materials since PVC is toxic and does not break down. I looked into all natural rubber mats and cork mats. Rubber mats do not do well in the heat and tend to stretch when doing poses. Plus it has a strong odor that eventually fades, but takes time. I decided cork was best for me. I was stuck between Scoria and another popular brand. Goodness, I read SOO many reviews and watched so many YouTube videos… it was ridiculous. I chose Scoria, not only for the positive reviews, but the comments regarding how great customer service is (the other company had some negative reviews regarding support). Anyways, about the product… I’m 29 and I’m in love! It’s soft yet firm - even for a newbie! My knees don’t ache and I can hold my balancing poses. I have a spray bottle with water, but have not needed to use it! Even before I’m warmed up I’m not slipping, and it only gets better as I sweat. The design is beautiful and gets tons of complements. There’s no odor and it’s self cleaning. It took a few weeks but it lays flat now. It’s honestly made yoga a lot more enjoyable! The only thing I’ve noticed that would be negative is a couple strings on the outer edges (I just leave them alone) and for the first 5 or so yoga sessions there was little prickles on the mat… like sand and I’d have to dust it off.. I think it was pieces of cork? However, it has slowly faded away and again.. not a deal breaker. I’d buy this mat again! Hopefully this review helps another newbie the way other reviews helped me!
