ECO-PACKAGING
Our mats are rolled up in a recycled box without the use of plastics. Our only item right now with plastic packaging is the yoga wheel with bubble wrap as it is easily scratched and we're looking for alternatives.
STAY WEIRD & BE KIND
{ Message from the founder } ~ With Scoria, I aim to build a culture of playfulness, joyfulness & imagination as if we were children again. As a designer, artist & yoga teacher, I believe that reconnecting with our inner-child through the fun, the earthy, the messy, the creative, the imperfect and playful can still be achieved in sustainable and giving ways
2017 - the launch
the first ever yoga brand inspired by children's stories
In 2017, Scoria launched its first line of yoga mats inspired by children’s stories, reaching our Kickstarter goal. Each mat features quirky illustrations on all-natural, eco-friendly materials. Yara drew on her experience and passion for creativity to create mats that reflect her core values of sustainability and social impact. These mats are more than practice tools; they provide a safe space for free movement, self-expression, and mindfulness.
The Story of Scoriathe seed
2015 - "scribbles" was born
Scoria's founder was an art teacher and taekwondo master. Working with children in sports and art, she was inspired by their boundless creativity and noticed herself and other adults losing that over time. Her university thesis, Scribbles, explored loss of creativity and ways to revive it. She created artistic products inspired by children's stories. This journey also led to the Spark the Child Within movement and laid the foundation for what Scoria's core is today.
